French police on Wednesday arrested a suspect in the weekend stabbing of a French soldier in Paris, Paris prosecutor Xavier Molins said.
Molins said
the man, named Alexandre, who turns 22 on Thursday, had converted
to Islam. He was known to police after undergoing an identity
check in 2007 for praying on the street.
It is believed the man committed the assault due to his his
“religious ideology.”
