Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says her pro-independence Scottish National Party (SNP) will propose a new referendum on independence from the United Kingdom.
Sturgeon said the party would set out a timescale for the referendum in its manifesto ahead of the 2016 regional elections.
She said the manifesto will also include more details on the circumstances under which another vote might be “appropriate.”
“Our manifesto will set out what we consider are the circumstances and the timescale on which a second referendum might be appropriate, but we can only propos,” said Scotland’s First Minister.
The revelation comes after Scots voted by 55% to 45% to reject leaving the union on 18 September last year.
