Presidential hopeful Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf says he will solve Iranâ„¢s problems within two years if elected president.
Å“I will restore tranquility and stability to the country within two years,” Qalibaf said in a speech in Rasht, the capital of the northern province of Gilan, on Friday, the Fars News Agency reported.
He added that people should vote for the new president based on his accomplishments rather than his plans and programs.
The principlist hopeful, who is currently the mayor of Tehran, also said that mismanagement is the only cause of the weak situation of Gilanâ„¢s agricultural industry, and the countryâ„¢s agricultural industry needs a fundamental transformation.
He went on to say that the policies of the current administration have caused high unemployment among the youth.
Qalibaf is a member of the principlist Coalition of Three. The other members are former Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati, who is a senior advisor to Ayatollah Khamenei, and MP Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel.
A total of 686 individuals registered from May 7 to 11 for the Islamic Republicâ„¢s 11th presidential election, which will be held on June 14.
The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election, and the Guardian Council vets the candidates based on their qualifications.
Guardian Council Spokesman Abbas Ali Kadkhodaei said on Friday that the final list of candidates will be announced by May 21.
