Thousands of Pakistani have held a mass rally in port city of Karachi to protest against a possible US-led military intervention in Syria, Press TV reports.
A large number of Jamaat-e-Islami party supporters took to streets of the southern city of Karachi, chanting anti-American slogans and torching American flags and effigies of US President Barack Obama.
They called on the Muslim nations to collectively confront the US and Israeli conspiracies in the region.
The mass rally comes as people around the world are staging anti-war demonstrations against a possible US attack on Syria.
Mass protests have been held in the Occupied West Bank, Jordan, Australia, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Tunisia, and Turkey. Anti-war activists have also gathered in front of the White House for several times to condemn President Obama’s policy on Syria.
The call for military action against Syria intensified after foreign-backed opposition forces accused the government of President Bashar al-Assad of launching a chemical attack on militant strongholds on the suburbs of Damascus on August 21.
Damascus has vehemently denied the accusations, saying the chemical attack was carried out by the militants themselves as a false-flag operation.
Iran, Russia and China, among other countries, have warned against foreign military intervention in Syria, which has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011.
According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies — especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey — are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
