The United States wants to smother domestic unrest in the country by the National Security Agency’s vast spying projects, a political analyst says.
“To smother domestic unrest in its crib, we’re going to track the conversations of everyone,” Michael Burns said in a phone interview with Press TV on Thursday.
“The American citizen has a big brother watching at all times whether the cameras watching his license plates or NSA listen to his phone conversations,” he added.
New documents revealed that the NSA recorded information of about 124.8 billion phone calls during a 30-day period earlier this year.
The monitored calls took place throughout the month of January 2013.
Information regarding billions of phone calls and computer communications was collected by the spying agency from across the world.
Boundless Informant “allows users to select a country on a map and view the meta data volume and select details about the collections against that country,” the documents said.
“The United States has become a very aggressive military dominated empire,” Burns said. “We have made enemies out of many many countries.”
On Thursday, the Guardian reported that the NSA has monitored the telephone conversations of 35 world leaders.
Officials from the White House, the US Department of Defense, and the State Department gave the world leaders’ numbers to the National Security Agency.
The analyst also concluded that the United States now is a country “in decline.”
