Iranian reciter Mohammad Mashmoul has scooped the second prize at the 55th International Tilawah Al-Quran (Quran Recital Assembly) in Malaysia.
While the first prize went to the Indonesian competitor Dasrizal Marah Nainin, the third award in the male category was given to Malaysian reciter Anuar Hasin.
In the female category, Hajar Boussaq from Morocco took the first award of the competition.
The winners received their prizes during an award ceremony held at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC) in Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur on July 6.
Malaysiaâ„¢s King Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Ibni Almarhum along with other Malaysian officials and envoys from Muslim countries attended the ceremony.
Malaysiaâ„¢s king presented the winners with cash prizes as well as certificates of honor.
Winners of the first three titles were honored with 45000, 30000, and 20000 Malaysian ringgits.
Iran was also the winner of last yearâ„¢s edition as the second prize went to the countryâ„¢s reciter Amin Pouya.
This yearâ„¢s competition hosted 59 representatives including 37 male and 22 female reciters from 48 countries such as Egypt, Maldives, Iran, Sri Lanka, Belgium, Sudan and Morocco.
Malaysiaâ„¢s 55th International Holy Qurâ„¢an Competition kicked off on June 29 and warps up on July 6, 2013.
