‘Iran N-talks offer new opportunities’

China has praised œfresh opportunities” created after the latest round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and six world powers in Geneva, calling on all involved sides to seize the chance to resolve Iran™s nuclear issue.

On Thursday, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Beijing œhas always maintained that a solution based on dialogue and negotiation is in the interests of all parties. The new round of talks on Iran has created fresh opportunities in this regard.”

œWe hope all parties can take a flexible, pragmatic attitude to accommodate each other™s concerns and have substantive negotiations in order to achieve progress at an early date,” Hua added.

The Chinese diplomat further reaffirmed her country’s commitment to play a œconstructive” role in resolving Iran™s nuclear issue œthrough diplomatic and peaceful means.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif presented Tehran™s new proposal titled œClosing an Unnecessary Crisis, Opening New Horizons” during the Tuesday morning session of the recent nuclear talks between Iran and the six world powers — the US, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany — in Geneva.

Zarif also expressed hope that closed-door discussions between Tehran and the six nations will herald a œnew phase” in relations between the two sides.

At the end of the nuclear negotiations, EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, praised the talks as the œmost detailed” and most œsubstantive” ones ever held between Iran and the six powers.
