Possible US presidential candidate Scott Walker has accused the administration of President Barack Obama of not supporting Israel enough and making “bad deals” with Iran.
“The current administration is not giving Israel the support it needs,” the Wisconsin governor wrote in an article published on Medium on Tuesday.
His article is about his recent visit to Israel and his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials.
Walker, who is set to announce his run for presidency this summer, said the goal of his trip was to listen to Israeli leaders in order to better understand their perspective.
“It is very clear to me that now is not the time to dismiss or downplay the threats to their country or ours. Nor is it a time to dismiss the rise of anti-Semitism around the world and an increasing effort in places like Western Europe to delegitimize Israel,” he wrote.
The Republican governor had earlier criticized President Obama for nuclear negotiations with Iran.
