Iranian presidential candidate Mohammad Gharazi says he will form a cabinet to subdue inflation in order to improve the countryâ„¢s economy if he wins the June 14 vote.
On Wednesday, Gharazi stated that the Iranian economy has been in ruins since the last two years.
He went on to say that his administration will not spend more than its allocated annual budget, because higher liquidity will increase the inflation rate.
Gharazi also blamed the administration of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the high rate of inflation and the widening gap between the rich and the poor in Iran.
Late on Tuesday night, Iranâ„¢s Interior Ministry issued the list of hopefuls approved by the Guardian Council to run in the countryâ„¢s 11th presidential election.
The Guardian Council approved MP Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, Hassan Rohani, the director of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council, former First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref, Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi, and former Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Velayati. The eight candidates were approved after a 10-day vetting process.
The council did not approve, among others, former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Esfandiyar Rahim-Mashaei, a top aide to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and former Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.
