The so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) closely cooperates with the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group al-Nusra Front under the auspices of the US and the Israeli regime, a political analyst tells Press TV.
Å“Anybody calling himself Free Syrian Army is in fact a representative of al-Nusra Front,” said American author and historian Webster Griffin Tarpley in a Saturday interview.
Å“We are getting reports every day of more and more units of the so-called FSA, showing their true colors or going over to al-Nusra and proclaiming themselves full-fledged terrorists, al-Qaeda disciples, death squads in every sense of the word,” Tarpley stated.
He also commented on the recent secret visit by US Ambassador to Damascus Robert Ford to Syria to meet with the militant leaders, particularly FSA chief of staff Salim Idriss, noting, Å“General Salim Idriss is the new golden boy here. He is the darling of CIA and the State Department and it looks like Ford is trying to coordinate the next move with Idriss.”
Meanwhile, the Soref symposium of WINAP of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy which is a very strongly pro-Israeli organization, was planning to host US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel as well as two generals of the terrorists, al-Nusra and FSA, Colonel Zakaria and Colonel Akidi, the analyst pointed out.
Tarpley also noted that despite the ongoing plots by the US, Israel, the FSA and al-Nusra, Å“The overwhelming facts on the ground in the past couple of weeks are the rebels are losing, Assad is winning.”
The Syria crisis began in March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of soldiers and security personnel, have been killed in the violence. The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country.
