Fajr Intl. Music Festival to honor Iranian virtuosos

A number of veteran Iranian musicians are slated to be honored during a ceremony at the 28th edition of Fajr International Music Festival.

Horn virtuoso Sharif Lotfi, prominent composer Ahmad Ali Ragheb and Oud maestro Mansour Nariman will garner the Lifetime Achievement Awards, the festival’s secretary Hassan Riahi announced.

Some 57 ensembles from over 70 submitted groups were selected to participate in this year’s festival.

The event is programmed to be presented at six music halls in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

Tehran Symphony Orchestra and Iran’s National Orchestra are to perform their programs at the 2013 Fajr music festival, Riahi noted.

Ehsan Khajeh Amiri, Babak Jahanbakhsh, Farzad Farzin, Sirvan Khosravi, Maziar Fallahi and Mohsen Yeganeh are some of the eminent Iranian vocalists that will perform during the gala.

Iran’s Fajr International Music Festival is part of the country’s cultural programs held every year to commemorate the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The 28th Fajr International Music Festival is programmed to take place from February 13 to 19, 2013.
