Egypt forces fire at pro-Morsi demos

Egyptian security forces have opened fire on supporters of the ousted president, Mohamed Morsi, on the 6th October and May 15 bridges in the capital, Cairo.

On Friday, demonstrators marched on May 15 Bridge, in Zamalek neighborhood, after bypassing roadblocks to condemn Egyptian police’s violent crackdown on protesters.

Reports say seventeen people have so far been killed in Egypt as the country is rocked by nationwide protests against the violent crackdown.

However, Egyptâ„¢s Muslim Brotherhood says 28 pro-Morsi protesters have been killed in clashes at Ramses Square in the capital alone.

The group also announced that Egyptian security forces have killed 10 Morsi supporters in the Suez Canal city of Ismailia.

Casualties have been also reported in the northern part of Egyptâ„¢s Sinai Peninsula.

The deadly police crackdown on Rabaa and Nahda protest camps in Cairo left at least 638 people dead and injured over 4,000 others on Wednesday.

Egypt has plunged into an unrelenting string of violence after the Egyptian army announced on July 3 that Morsi was no longer in office and declared chief Justice of Egyptâ„¢s Supreme Constitutional Court, Adly Mansour, as the interim president.

Egypt is currently locked down under a month-long curfew and the police have been authorized to use live ammunitions in case of attacks against state buildings.
