Cairo Filmfest invites Iranian cineastes

The president of Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) Amir Al Omari has invited Iranian cineastes to take part in the 2013 edition of the event.

Å“We will welcome to the screen productions created by the Iranian filmmakers at this yearâ„¢s festival,” Al Omari said.

Though the festival is trying to host Iranian filmmakers, via issuance will depend on the Egyptâ„¢s foreign policy and the festival organizers cannot interfere, he noted.

Amir Al Omari visited Iran in 2012 to attend Tehranâ„¢s Short Film Festival as a jury member.

Several Iranian filmmakers missed the last yearâ„¢s festival over Egyptâ„¢s refusal to issue visas to them.

The Private Life of Mr. and Mrs. M by Rouhollah Hejazi and Flight of the Kites by Ali Qavitan were among the movies participated in last yearâ„¢s edition.

Established in 1976, CIFF is an annual film event held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

This yearâ„¢s festival is scheduled to take place from November 27 to December 6, 2013.
