At least 22 people are killed and 24 others injured after a concrete truck slammed into a bus transporting workers near Al-Ain city in the UAE.
The truck crashed into the bus carrying 46 Asian workers on Monday during rush hour , General Hussein al-Harithi, director of Abu Dhabi traffic police said.
Harithi said that the 22 victims were killed, while the wounded were taken to Ali Ain hospitals, some of them by helicopter.
The accident could have been caused by faulty brakes and failure to leave a safe distance between vehicles, the official added.
Migrant workers, make up a majority of the resident population of the UAE, and account for 90 percent of its workforce.
The UAE is constantly criticized for its poor living and working conditions provided for foreign workers. They lack rights associated with citizenship and face a variety of restrictions on their rights as workers.
