Uniformed British soldiers have chanted hate filled sectarian songs on the Armed Forces Day at a football stadium in Scotland, a video uploaded to the internet has shown.
The video uploaded to Youtube on Sunday shows around 400 uniformed soldiers of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army, and Royal Air Force on duty at the Ibrox stadium in Glasgow on Saturday, this shortly turned into a frenzy of chants against the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and for reinforcing borders of Northern Ireland.
They sang sectarian songs that celebrate about the death of IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands and about being protector of Londonderry; the main city in Northern Ireland that borders with Ireland.
The UK Armed Forces personnel raised eyebrows after they chanted, danced and clapped with the crowd after the demonstration.
Commentators on twitter questioned the legality of the act, saying œthe British soldiers” should be charged under the œOffensive Behaviour at Football act”.
The Scottish parliament has banned the slurs in the songs, as sectarianism and offensive behaviour, from all Scottish football grounds under the act that came into force on March 1, 2012.
