The Russian Premier League fat-cats Anzhi Makhachkala are close to signing Real Madrid star Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, commonly known as Kaká, according to the Spanish media.
The reports suggest the deal could be reached on Tuesday. The source mentioned last week’s meetings between the Russian club’s sporting director Roberto Carlos and Real’s management in Madrid as indirect proof.
This winter the 30 year old, who seems to have completely lost the trust of Jose Mourinho and a place in Real Madrid’s starting 11, could have joined either AC Milan where he became famous, or Turkish giants Galatasaray.
However, the Italian side withdrew from talks due to financial reasons, while the Turks preferred Dutch star Wesley Snejder to the 2007 Ballon d’Or winner.
With the transfer period concluding in Europe on January 31, and Russia’ open till March, Anzhi is now the most likely destination for Kaka.
The Makhachkala side currently sit second in the Premier League close on CSKA Moscow’s heels, have already proven they can afford any player, at least in terms of finance.
