Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani (R) meets with his Kuwaiti counterpart Marzouq al-Ghanim on the sidelines of 129th Inter-Parliamentarian Union (IPU) Assembly in Geneva on October 8, 2013.
Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has warned against the growing spate of terrorist attacks in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, calling for collective initiatives to help settle regional conflicts.
Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart Marzouq al-Ghanim on the sidelines of the 129th Inter-Parliamentarian Union (IPU) Assembly in Geneva on Tuesday.
He said military actions will fail to counter terrorism, adding, œZionists play definitely a leading role in orchestrating all terrorist acts.”
Larijani noted that disrespect for Tehran™s call for a political solution to the Syrian conflict turned the crisis into adventurism.
He stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran opposes sectarian violence in the region, that it is doing its utmost to prevent any conflict among Muslims.
The senior Iranian official also called for the promotion of cooperation between Tehran and Kuwait City in economic and political sectors.
Ghanim, for his part, described the affinities between Iran and Kuwait as deep-rooted in religion and history, noting that the Kuwaiti government views Iran as a close and good friend.
He said Kuwait counts on Iran™s prudence, power and wisdom – under the aegis of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei – for the resolution of regional crises.
Kuwait™s National Assembly speaker also stated that his country strives to maintain close relations with Iran, stressing the need for unity among all Islamic sects.
