In today’s fast paced society, everyone wants to accomplish everything as quickly as possible, and weight loss is no exception. The problem is, many people find that it’s difficult to lose weight at all, whether fast or slow.
According to writer and researcher on health and nutrition Maire Brody, losing weight is as much a mind set as a physical goal. The most important principle to keep in mind, she says, is focusing on your goal and finding satisfaction in making progress -and progress- in that direction.
“It’s certainly possible to lose weight fast, and I’ve seen many people do it,” says Brody. “And it can be very useful to set a specific goal for yourself, as this can be very motivating. But what really counts is whether someone is committed to following through on their goal. No matter how long it takes you to lose the weight you need to lose, you’re still going to be better off than you were before.”
Brody offers a free, online e-course entitled, “How to Lose 10 Pounds in 2 Weeks,” so she apparently believes it’s possible for the average person to do this. This min-course, however, is not actually a diet plan or exercise program, but a way to get people in the right frame of mind to choose the best course of action for themselves.
“The same weight loss program is not best for everybody,” she says. “It depends on many factors, such as your body type, how much weight you have to lose, your personality and lifestyle. So to give everybody the same program doesn’t make sense. My approach is to get you clear enough so that you can take charge of your own life and health and choose the best solutions for yourself.”
