Thousands have fled into the streets of Mexico City after a 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck the area.
Mexico Seismology Service said the quake was centered about 30 miles southwest of Pinotepa Nacional on the Pacific Coast.
The earthquake set off a citywide alarm and caused nearby buildings to sway.
There were no immediate reports of damages or injuries.
