{"id":95166,"date":"2013-11-30T11:47:54","date_gmt":"2013-11-30T11:47:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/judge-colorado-sheriffs-cant-sue-over-gun-control-laws\/"},"modified":"2013-11-30T11:47:54","modified_gmt":"2013-11-30T11:47:54","slug":"judge-colorado-sheriffs-cant-sue-over-gun-control-laws","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/judge-colorado-sheriffs-cant-sue-over-gun-control-laws\/","title":{"rendered":"Judge: Colorado sheriffs can\u2019t sue over gun control laws"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Greg Campbell<\/strong><br \/><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2013\/11\/29\/judge-colorado-sheriffs-cant-sue-over-gun-control-laws\/\">Daily Caller<\/a><br \/>November 30, 2013<\/p>\n<p>Colorado&#8217;s elected sheriffs don&#8217;t have the standing to sue the state of Colorado to overturn controversial new gun control laws, a federal judge ruled on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the state&#8217;s 64 sheriffs <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2013\/05\/18\/colorado-sheriffs-sue-the-state-over-new-gun-control-laws\/\">spearheaded<\/a> a lawsuit to overturn laws that went into effect July 1 limiting the size of ammunition magazines and requiring universal background checks, saying they violate the Second Amendment and that they are unenforceable.<\/p>\n<p>But U.S. District Judge Marcia Krieger in Denver said the sheriffs couldn&#8217;t sue the state as a group because they are elected officials.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If individual sheriffs wish to protect individual rights or interests they may do so.
