he sat in a corner<\/span><\/p>\n

he lay in his bed<\/span><\/p>\n

he didn’t talk <\/span><\/p>\n

the doctor huffed and puffed and tap danced in front of his steady blank eyes<\/span><\/p>\n

he assured her this had nothing to do with the shot<\/span><\/p>\n

it was a predisposition or a genetic trait or a precondition<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

he smiled now and then<\/span><\/p>\n

he said autism could have emerged just after the shot was given<\/span><\/p>\n

the universe rearranged itself <\/span><\/p>\n

at that moment<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

there was no getting around it <\/span><\/p>\n

she saw she was talking to a psychopath trained in the art of knowing everything there was to know<\/span><\/p>\n

he had been a machine for a long, long time<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

she went into the darkness and pleaded her case before a government committee<\/span><\/p>\n

they sat like ancient high priests <\/span><\/p>\n

and listened and glanced at documents<\/span><\/p>\n

and when they had permitted her the allotted time they handed down their judgment:<\/span><\/p>\n

no<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

she went home and took her boy in her arms<\/span><\/p>\n

he was still<\/span><\/p>\n

he didn’t look at her<\/span><\/p>\n

he didn’t speak<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

she consulted a lawyer<\/span><\/p>\n

who told her there was a regulation that prevented her from suing the vaccine manufacturer<\/span><\/p>\n

the company was protected by an iron wall<\/span><\/p>\n

they would continue to make the vaccine and sell it<\/span><\/p>\n

and pocket hundreds of millions of dollars<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

the long night was closing in<\/span><\/p>\n

the storm was here<\/span><\/p>\n

the silent boy was sitting in the eye<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

rage was burning in the middle of her chest<\/span><\/p>\n

a rage the public would see as insanity<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

from their distance, the moon and the stars might know<\/span><\/p>\n

what was going on<\/span><\/p>\n

but people in their everyday straitjackets<\/span><\/p>\n

would lash out at her<\/span><\/p>\n

because they needed a target,<\/span><\/p>\n

they needed a defector from their own slave shuffle to ridicule<\/span><\/p>\n

they were \u201cgood,\u201d they obeyed all the small print<\/span><\/p>\n

they were neutered in their cores<\/span><\/p>\n

paralytics<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

they all knew there was big money at stake<\/span><\/p>\n

and when that was on the table<\/span><\/p>\n

official killers won<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

but she is not alone<\/span><\/p>\n

there are other mothers<\/span><\/p>\n

and there is a strange <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

two-edged sword in the empire <\/span><\/p>\n

anyone can pick it up<\/span><\/p>\n

and use it<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

cutting away the web<\/span><\/p>\n

and coming to the spider<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

she and her companions<\/span><\/p>\n

will never put down the sword<\/span><\/p>\n

no matter what defamation <\/span><\/p>\n

the intermediary whores<\/span><\/p>\n

of the press<\/span><\/p>\n

lay at her door<\/span><\/p>\n
