Britain’s Scottish Secretary Michael Moore has been sacked in the cabinet reshuffle less than a year before independence vote, signaling a more attacking approach in the run-up to the 2014 referendum.\n<\/p>\n
The Deputy Prime Minister and Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg replaced Moore with Alistair Carmichael as secretary of state for Scotland, saying a change in campaign tactics was needed ahead of the independence vote.\n<\/p>\n
œWe now need to draw on different experience in the final year running up to the referendum itself,” Clegg told Moore in a letter.\n<\/p>\n
Moore said he was disappointed to leave the office at this critical time and that he would continue to play a role in ensuring Scotland remains in the UK.\n<\/p>\n
According to a government source, Moore™s low-key defence of Britain led to the removal. A more combative style would be needed for campaigning, the source added.\n<\/p>\n
Earlier last week, British Prime Minister David Cameron urged Scottish people to vote against the country™s independence in 2014 referendum.\n<\/p>\n
Speaking at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester, Cameron once again made a plea to Scottish voters to reject independence in the planned referendum next year, saying the country should œstick together”.\n<\/p>\n
