Conservative lawmakers including Jacob Rees-Mogg have hit back at pro-EU politician David Lammy for likening the Tories\u2019 European Research Group to Nazis.<\/p>\n
During an interview on the BBC\u2019s Andrew Marr Show on Sunday, second EU referendum advocate Lammy was asked about controversial comments he made during a rally last month.<\/p>\n
At the People\u2019s Vote demonstration, the Labour MP for Tottenham compared the likes of Brexiteer MPs Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson to Nazis and South African racists, an analogy he even claimed was \u201cnot strong enough.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n During an interview<\/a> with LBC radio on Monday morning, Rees-Mogg refuted the \u201csenseless\u201d<\/em> claims, saying they were \u201cpatently not true,\u201d<\/em> and arguing that comments comparing his anti-EU group with an organization that killed 6 million Jews made the accuser look silly.<\/p>\n It makes the person saying it look foolish and second rate rather than doing any damage against the people it\u2019s levelled against.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Tory politicians including Conor Burns, MP for Bournemouth West, branded Lammy\u2019s comments \u201cbats**t,\u201d<\/em> insisting he had \u201cfully lost it.\u201d<\/em> Another labelled them \u201cdisgraceful.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n I used to have regard for David Lammy. But this is batshit. Comparing ERG to Hitler is quite something.
