Progressives in recent weeks have applauded Democrats\u2019 refusal to bend to President Donald Trump\u2019s demands for a wall at the US-Mexico border, a key component of his xenophobic anti-immigration agenda. But on Friday, digital rights advocates called on Democratic lawmakers to expand their fight against the wall into a fight for all human and constitutional rights \u2014 instead of suggesting alternative \u201cborder security\u201d proposals that would infringe on civil liberties.<\/p>\n

Fight for the Future launched a <\/span>campaign <\/span><\/a>Friday to fight against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi\u2019s (D-Calif.) <\/span>suggestion<\/a> <\/span>on Thursday that a so-called \u201ctechnological wall\u201d would be an appropriate alternative to Trump\u2019s planned concrete or steel wall.<\/p>\n

Congressional Democrats are calling for a \u201ctechnological wall\u201d at the border, meaning increased warrantless surveillance that could impact up to two-thirds of all people in the US <\/p>\n
