Last night\u2019s (October 23, 2013) Frontline<\/em><\/a> program, on PBS\u2014\u201cThe Pension Gamble<\/a>\u201d\u2014featured David Sirota<\/a> (author of the 2013 article, \u201cThe Plot Against Pensions<\/a>\u201d).<\/sup><\/a> The program focused on the bad shape that many pension programs for public employees specifically are in, with Kentucky\u2019s case being the worst example.\u00a0 Toward the end of the program, Kentucky Governor Matthew Bevin<\/a> was quoted thusly:<\/p>\n The next governor, regardless of who they are or what ideology they represent, it won\u2019t matter what lie they give. Reality will come crashing home.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n From what I had learned, while watching the program, I had to agree<\/em> with him.\u00a0 However, it occurred to me that while many public employees are rightfully<\/em> concerned about their pensions, there\u2019s a problem that\u2019s far<\/em> more important than pensions\u2014a problem that\u2019s faced not only by public employees<\/em> in the United States, but all<\/em> humans.<\/p>\n A problem<\/em>, though, regarding which few in our society are fully aware<\/em>, because of \u201cmedia silence<\/a>\u201d about it, and even \u201cglobal warming denialism<\/a>\u201d in our media!\u00a0 \u00a0That article begins this way:<\/p>\n Emperor Nero may (or may not<\/a>) have fiddled while Rome burned, but commercial U.S. TV networks definitely fiddled last year [2016] on climate coverage while the Earth grew dangerously hot.<\/p>\n An annual climate\u00a0report<\/a>\u00a0issued this month by the World Meteorological Organization confirms that average global temperatures and global sea levels…<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n
