Do we think that the timing was a mistake?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"video-filter video-mrctv video-center vf-534075 embed-responsive-item\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mrctv.org\/embed\/534075\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After Maxwell laughably argued that the move \u201cput to bed a lot of the controversy\u201d and somehow placed President Trump \u201con the defensive,\u201d she blasted the Cherokee: <strong>\u201cBut in terms of the Cherokee Nation\u2019s statement, I found that to be ridiculous.\u201d<\/strong> Claiming that she was \u201calso part Cherokee,\u201d Maxwell accused the Native American tribe of racial discrimination:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>So to be clear, I think that while the rollout of the DNA test and the decision to do a DNA test to be able to, quote, \u201cprove\u201d that she is part Cherokee, may not have been the best method. <strong>I also think that the Cherokee Nation\u2019s response was problematic because it actually ignores the fact that DNA testing historically has been used to exclude black natives from tribal affiliation.
