Ivanka Trump\u2019s supporters rushed to her defense after critics slammed the first daughter for posting a photograph of herself hugging her son, and linked her to the Trump administration\u2019s immigration policies.<\/p>\n
Trump posted the Instagram picture on a weekend when misleading reports suggested that the US Department of Health and Human Services had \u201clost\u201d<\/em> 1,500 immigrant children. Trump faced backlash for the apparently \u201cinsensitive\u201d photograph, with anti-Trump Twitter users calling her everything from \u201cself-absorbed\u201d<\/em> to \u201cnasty\u201d<\/em> and a \u201cdespicable pile of trash\u201d<\/em> in response to her post.<\/p>\n Critics pointed to another photo that was also doing the rounds on Twitter, showing two immigrant children caged in what looked like a kennel at a dog shelter. Anti-Trump journalists and commentators tweeted their outrage that such a thing was happening under the Trump administration \u2013 and then quietly began deleting their tweets<\/a> when it emerged that the photographs of caged children were taken in 2014 when Barack Obama was president.<\/p>\n When CNN reported on Ivanka Trump\u2019s photograph, all hell broke loose and Trump\u2019s fans were quick to come to her defense. A CNN video posted on Twitter received more than 5,000 responses, many of which slammed the channel for posting \u201cfake news\u201d<\/em> and attempting to \u201cmanufacture\u201d<\/em> a scandal out of an innocent photograph.<\/p>\n It is so stupid for CNN to give a platform to people who want to manufacture a controversy over Ivanka Trump posting a picture with her son.<\/p>\n CNN might as well just write Trump a check for his 2020 campaign with this kind of insanity. https:\/\/t.co\/j8H71cJqSk<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Josh Jordan (@NumbersMuncher) May 29, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n One journalist tweeted that the reaction from CNN is part of what \u201cfuels the hate towards media.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n As a journalist, I hate the \u201cfake news\u201d narrative BUT stories like this lead to that accusation.<\/p>\n All Ivanka did was post a photo of her & her son.
