Noor has been charged with third-degree murder for \u201cperpetrating an eminently dangerous act and evincing depraved mind\u201d and second-degree manslaughter for \u201cculpable negligence creating unreasonable risk,\u201d according to official charging documents released on March 20.<\/p>\n<p>Damond was shot on July 15 last year when she called the police to report a possible rape. Noor and his partner Matthew Harrity responded to the call and drove down the alley behind her home in their squad car with the lights off when they say they were startled by a loud noise. Both officers drew their weapons, and Damond, unarmed and in her pajamas, approached the vehicle shortly after. Noor then opened fire from the passenger seat, across his partner, hitting Damond.<\/p>\n<p>Damond had called 911 twice before the officers arrived on the scene, where Harrity says they waited two minutes before Noor entered into their computer that they had investigated the incident safely and did not need any assistance.
