{"id":336233,"date":"2017-11-23T08:33:35","date_gmt":"2017-11-23T07:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/what-makes-googles-eric-schmidt-so-afraid\/"},"modified":"2017-11-23T08:33:35","modified_gmt":"2017-11-23T07:33:35","slug":"what-makes-googles-eric-schmidt-so-afraid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/what-makes-googles-eric-schmidt-so-afraid\/","title":{"rendered":"What makes Google\u2019s Eric Schmidt so afraid?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>There are reasons to be extremely worried about what is happening on the Internet \u2013 quite silently.<\/p>\n<p>Worried in terms of freedom of information gathering, respect for Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, worried about democracy, the open society \u2013 and more.<\/p>\n<p>There are reasons that you should get very concerned when one of the world\u2019s richest corporate leaders with clear political affiliations and relations to Pentagon and the MIMAC \u2013 the Military-Industrial-Media-<wbr><\/wbr>Academic Complex begins to play God and decides what you and I shall be able to see on the Internet.<\/p>\n<p>His name is <em>Eric Emerson Schmidt<\/em> and he is Executive Chairman of Alphabet, a huge multinational conglomerate of corporation that owns a lot \u2013 including Google.<\/p>\n<p>This one man \u2013 much more powerful than many state leaders \u2013 is on record saying (at a military security conference) that Google works to introduce <em>\u201cde-ranking\u201d<\/em> of sites he just doesn\u2019t like.<\/p>\n<p>They happen to be Russian.<\/p>\n<p>And many others too. Like TFF.<\/p>\n<p><em>De-ranking<\/em> means blatant, paternalist <em>censorship<\/em>. <em>Algorithm<\/em> is the catchword for it.<\/p>\n<p>Schmidt gladly abdicates his responsibility which would be to stand up for <em>net neutrality and net freedom<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an <em>information war<\/em> in an era of new Cold War and there is very little attention paid to it in Western mainstream media and debates.<\/p>\n<p>Where are the human rights organisations?<\/p>\n<p>Where are the leading media people who should see how much of a <em>slippery slope<\/em> this is?<\/p>\n<p>Do they&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dissidentvoice.org\/2017\/11\/what-makes-googles-eric-schmidt-so-afraid\/\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are reasons to be extremely worried about what is happening on the Internet \u2013 quite silently.
