It started with but a small gesture,
\na helping hand
\nfrom one unconnected stranger to another.
\nThe warmth of the \u2018Safety Net\u2019
\npalm on palm
\nsoared up shaking limb
\nand burst out of deep, blue eyes,
\nonce beaten,
\nbut now neon, courageous and sparkling alive.
\nIt happened in a little, insignificant village
\nstraddling the borderlands
\nof the back-of-beyond.
\nNews travelled fast down through
\nthe towns and suburbs,
\ngaining momentum as it spread.
\nThere were no \u2018Loaves and Fishes\u2019
\nnor Martyrs nailed to a foreign cross.
\nThe miracles were Hope, Compassion
\nand a Light given freely
\nto all those wandering lost.
\nA smile will not cost you a penny to give,
\nyour strong shoulder is a mountain
\nto the man down upon his knees.
\nEmpathy is not a weakness when used wisely
\nand Kindness is the closest thing to Heaven,
\nwhen the chips are down
\nand help rising back up is all that you need.<\/p>\n
