Their government is led by the National Progressive Front (NPF), with its most foremost party the Arab Socialist Ba\u2019ath Party which is joined by numerous radical and socially progressive parties. The NPF\u2019s majority in the Syrian\u2019s People\u2019s Council, the Syrian parliament, was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipu.org\/parline-e\/reports\/2307_E.htm\">reaffirmed<\/a> in the April 2016 elections by the Syrian people, elections which were predictably boycotted by the Western-backed opposition and predictably declared \u201cunfree\u201d by Western capitalists. President Donald Trump dealt the rationally-minded Syrians a blow that goes beyond his ill-fated show of strength manifested in the cruise missile attacks last month: direct US support of the Syrian Kurds who consist and are related to Rojava, officially called the \u201cDemocratic Federal System of Northern Syria\u201d (NSR), \u201cSyrian Kurdistan\u201d or \u201cWestern Kurdistan,\u201d to give a few names.<\/p>\n<p>It is part and parcel of those in the <a href=\"https:\/\/notthemsmdotcom.wordpress.com\/2015\/01\/21\/david-graebers-homage-to-rojava\/\">Western<\/a> and even international \u201cleft\u201d to declare that the Rojava Kurds are \u201crevolutionary\u201d or somehow \u201cliberated.\u201d Here is a sampling from their arguments in favor of such a group when challenged on a radical left-leaning subreddit: (1) the Kurds are \u201cvery prudent\u201d to get support from the West, (2) they aren\u2019t against the Syrian&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dissidentvoice.org\/2017\/05\/a-liberated-area-in-the-middle-east-western-imperialism-in-rojava\/\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over 17.1 million live in a socially democratic, secular state, the Syrian Arab Republic, ravaged by overt and covert imperialist machinations supported by Turkey, the Gulf autocracies, and the Western capitalist states.
