This shows how utter empty this rhetoric was,\u201d<\/em> Farron told the press.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis is triple whammy \u2013 honors to cronies and a whacking great pay rise and then a bumped up severance package. Compare this massive rise in a select few\u2019s pay to a 1 percent pay rise given to nurses, teachers and public sector workers and the 2 percent average pay award across the private sector in 2015.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis is frankly utterly shameless and the former PM should be ashamed.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The newly exposed taxpayer bill comes barely a month since it emerged Cameron had willingly ignored a senior civil servant\u2019s advice and waved his special advisers goodbye with a \u00a3282,000 severance package after his resignation.<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">&#8216;Cameron&#8217;s decision: at least 17 spads being paid MORE than their contracts stipulated; at extra cost of hundreds of thousands to taxpayers&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sunny Hundal (@sunny_hundal) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sunny_hundal\/status\/770573701880418304\">August 30, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>Special adviser to Number 10 Adam Atashzai was one of Cameron\u2019s staffers brought back into service after the 2015 election. Alongside his enhanced redundancy pay, Atashzai saw his salary grow from under \u00a358,200 in 2014 to \u00a372,000 in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Atashzai was also among Cameron\u2019s resignation honors list and was awarded an MBE for his services. Sugg was also honored with a life peerage when her boss left Number 10.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt would seem hypocrisy knows no bounds from a prime minister who preached pay restraint and austerity to public servants and the public, whilst at the same time awarding double-digit pay rises to his special advisers,\u201d<\/em> said senior civil servants union FDA general secretary Dave Penman.<\/p>\n<p>His Public and Commercial Services Union colleague Mark Serwotka said decent pay rises should apply to all civil servants, not just<em> \u201cto [Cameron\u2019s] close circle of political friends.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A Downing Street spokesman said decisions were made <em>\u201cby the previous regime\u201d<\/em> and that Prime Minister Theresa May had no further comment to make on them.<\/p>\n<p>But the one-time premier was not spared by Labour deputy leader Tom Watson, who accused Cameron of <em>\u201ccronyism\u201d<\/em> and <em>\u201cinsulting\u201d<\/em> the civil workforce enduring pay freezes under his premiership.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s uber-cronyism, it\u2019s totally unacceptable and Theresa May should claw the money back,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/357662-cameron-pay-cronyism-honours\/?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=RSS\">RT<\/a>.
