Yemen\u2019s independent Al Masdar News<\/i> headlines on Monday December 7th,\u00a0“U.S. Backed Syrian Opposition\u00a0Official Calls for the Extermination\u00a0of Alawites,\u201d<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and Leith Fadel reports that:<\/span><\/p>\n

A prominent official from the U.S. backed Syrian Opposition has called for the extermination\u00a0of Alawite [Syrian Shiite] Muslim villages after a series of defeats at the hands of the religiously diverse\u00a0\u201cSyrian Arab Army\u201d (SAA) in the month of November. …<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Abdullah Al-\u2018Ali \u2014 a former Aleppo-based attorney who has since moved to Turkey, where he\u00a0works alongside the President of the Syrian National Council, Khaled Khoja, \u2026\u00a0\u00a0advises\u00a0followers and friends in the Free Syrian Army (FSA) to carry out deliberate\u00a0sectarian attacks against Syria\u2019s large Alawite Muslim population, which is also\u00a0contrary to the message the Syrian National Council has attempted to spread to the\u00a0western world about its secular nature.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cExterminating Nusayri (derogatory term that is directed towards Alawites) villages is\u00a0more important than liberating the Syrian capital,\u201d says Abdullah Al-\u2018Ali.\u00a0\u2026\u00a0Al-\u2018Ali\u2019s sectarian post seems to be tolerated by his\u00a0counterparts in the Syrian National Council as several\u00a0members liked his message.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Al Masdar News<\/i> had previously been in the news itself during the 2011 Arab Spring demonstrations in Yemen against the Shiite President Ali Abdullah Saleh, when\u00a0the newspaper\u2019s photographer was killed by Saleh\u2019s troops.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0The newspaper is strictly nonpartisan and opposed to all sectarianism.<\/span><\/p>\n

A sectarian, pro-Sunni, newspaper owned by Sunni Qatar, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed<\/i>, bannered on December 2nd,\u00a0“Syrian activists: Destroying Assad means destroying Islamic State group,\u201d<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and reported that, “Many Syrian activists are frustrated by the UK debate on bombing the Islamic State group in\u00a0Syria and feel that the cause of the problem, Assad, is being ignored completely.\u201d Qatar\u2019s royal family, the Thanis, have been major donors to jihadist groups, all of which are Sunni. The newspaper quoted a Sunni group saying that the West needs to concentrate upon destroying “the\u00a0roots of the problem that allows IS to flourish: Assad and his\u00a0atrocities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

On\u00a0November 18th, a U.S. Defense Department press briefing in Baghdad<\/span><\/a>\u00a0proudly announced the first U.S. bombing of ISIS oil tank trucks carrying Iraqi and Syrian oil stolen by ISIS, for sale in other countries, and announced:<\/span><\/p>\n

This is our first strike against tanker trucks, and to minimize risks to\u00a0civilians, we conducted a leaflet drop prior to the strike.\u00a0\u2026\u00a0It says, “Get out of your\u00a0trucks now, and run away from them.\u00a0\u2026 Warning: airstrikes are coming. Oil trucks will be\u00a0destroyed. Get away from your oil trucks immediately. Do not risk\u00a0your life.”<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Russia had already bombed, during the prior month and a half, thousands of such ISIS black-market oil trucks, and didn\u2019t warn the people who were driving them.<\/span><\/p>\n

ISIS is one of the many Sunni jihadist groups that are fighting in Syria to oust from power the secular Shiite Bashar al-Assad.<\/span><\/p>\n

On November 24th, Michael Morell, Obama\u2019s CIA Director during 2011-2013, explained on the PBS Charlie Rose show,\u00a0\u201cWe didn\u2019t go after oil wells, actually hitting oil wells that\u00a0ISIS controls, because we didn\u2019t want to do\u00a0environmental damage, and we didn\u2019t want to destroy\u00a0that infrastructure.\u201d<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

By contrast, the U.S. bombings in Syria have been directed against Syria\u2019s infrastructure, including power stations that are in the territory still held by Bashar al-Assad\u2019s forces.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0No one who was bombed in those anti-Shiite<\/i> <\/span>attacks was warned in advance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shiites in Iraq are considering whether Iraq should kick the U.S. out because the U.S. is supporting Sunni jihadists, such as ISIS<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
