A Delaware River Port Authority policeman was called to escort a homeless man off a bus because he wasn’t wearing shoes. He did and then proceeded to buy the man a pair, an act of decency that was caught on camera by a passing citizen.<\/p>\n
“I just felt like the gentlemen simply was on hard times. He wanted to ride on the bus but he couldn’t afford shoes, there was no need for me to arrest him for that,”<\/em> Officer Kenya Joyner, of Wilmington, Delaware, later told KYW-TV.<\/p>\n This was shot on camera by Kayla Palmer of Pine Hill, New Jersey, who told NBC10 her father saw the homeless man being kicked off the bus.<\/p>\n \u201cWe saw the officer pull back up and we thought he was gonna tell him to leave,\u201d<\/em> Palmer said. \u201cInstead he came out with a box of shoes.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Just witnessed this on my way home!! You\u2019re gonna go viral!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cOh come on,\u201d<\/em> he said while laughing.<\/p>\n Palmer shared the video of the episode on Saturday on her Facebook page and it has since racked up almost 2.5 million views.<\/p>\n “He needed some recognition,”<\/em> she said. “Because you do see some of these negative stories.”<\/em><\/p>\n Joyner said many other officers he knows do similar things.
