Recent protests in capitalist countries indicate that the public mood is swinging from right to left and a turn to socialism has become inevitable for the entire world in the future, believes the head of the Russian Communist party, Gennady Zyuganov.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m confident that in 2013 it will become obvious to everyone,\u201d<\/em> the KPRF leader stated.<\/p>\n

In an article, published on Thursday on the party\u2019s website, Zyuganov summed up the results of the previous year and shared his view on how past events will affect the future of Russia as well as other countries.<\/p>\n

In keeping with tradition, the Communist leader slammed the policy lead by the ruling power as \u201cdestructive.\u201d The 2012 year \u201cfell short of expectations\u201d by those who waited for a start of positive social-economic and political changes in the country, he pointed out.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose who made public property serve their private interests can\u2019t save the country,\u201d<\/em> stated the head of the second-largest party.<\/p>\n

The only way to \u201crevive Russia\u201d and improve lives of its people is to go back to public ownership in economic, banking and financial sectors \u2014 as it was in the Soviet Union \u2014 Zyuganov believes.<\/p>\n

In his view, time proves that the Communists\u2019 goal is correct and that the world will inevitably take path to socialism.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook at what\u2019s happening in Europe, America, and Asia. You\u2019ll see that regions that were considered stronghold of capitalism not long ago are now leaping to the left \u2014 to the values of a social state, and the opposition to transnational corporations and financial scalpers,\u201d<\/em> the veteran politician observed.<\/p>\n

Mass protests that swept across Europe as well as election results in several countries are a clear indication of such a change of public political moods. For instance, left-wing Francois Hollande won France’s presidential poll last year, becoming the country\u2019s first socialist leader since Francois Mitterrand left office in 1995.<\/p>\n

In Russia, as \u201csocial-economic situation is worsening,\u201d<\/em> young people are taking a growing interest in the Communist Party\u2019s program, Zyuganov noted. There are fewer people who are ready to live in a society where ordinary people should \u201csweat their guts out\u201d<\/em> to get a pittance from a small bunch of the rich \u2014 \u201cthe new owners of life,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n

The upcoming KPRF congress in February will provide for \u201ca new breakthrough in our fight for the principles of social justice,\u201d<\/em> Zyuganov believes. And that, combined with the development of political work, will bring \u201chundreds of thousand\u201d new members to the party, he concluded.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
