{"id":17809,"date":"2012-11-27T17:03:15","date_gmt":"2012-11-27T16:03:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=17809"},"modified":"2012-11-27T17:03:15","modified_gmt":"2012-11-27T16:03:15","slug":"corporate-scientists-own-patents-on-gmos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/latest-news\/corporate-scientists-own-patents-on-gmos\/","title":{"rendered":"Corporate Scientists Own Patents On GMOs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Posts by Anthony Gucciardi\" href=\"http:\/\/naturalsociety.com\/author\/anthony\/\" rel=\"author\">Anthony Gucciardi<\/a>\u00a0|<\/p>\n<p>The lead researcher behind the monumental study that linked Monsanto\u2019s GMOs and best-selling herbicide Roundup to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/naturalsociety.com\/gmo-study-rats-fed-lifetime-of-gm-develop-mass-tumors-die-early\/\">tumor development<\/a>\u00a0and early death is now blowing the whistle on many corporate scientists\u00a0who are not just\u00a0<em>close<\/em>\u00a0to Monsanto and profit-harvesting GMO crops \u2013 many of them actually have or are seeking\u00a0<strong>their own GMO patents<\/strong>.\u00a0These patents, of course, enable them to make bountiful amounts of cash. Other corporate scientists are on (or \u2018were\u2019 at one point) Monsanto\u2019s pay roll, including\u00a0<strong>former Monsanto executive<\/strong>\u00a0turned\u00a0Deputy Commissioner for Foods\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fda.gov\/AboutFDA\/CentersOffices\/OfficeofFoods\/ucm196721.htm\">at the FDA<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Michael R. Taylor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gilles-Eric\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/article-2236219\/GM-corn-variety-regarded-safe-Dr-Gilles-Eric-S-ralini-hits-critics.html\">S\u00c3\u00a9ralini<\/a>, a French scientists who has been under assault from Monsanto and pro-GMO scientists, was responsible for perhaps the largest awakening over the dangers of Monsanto\u2019s GMO foods that we have ever seen. Not only did the public begin to further recognize the existence and threat of GMOs thanks to his research, but numerous countries like Russia and others actually\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/rt.com\/business\/news\/russia-monsanto-corn-ban-005\/\">enacted a suspension<\/a>\u00a0on the import of genetically modified maize due to public health concerns.<\/p>\n<p>This, of course, upset the Monsanto-funded corporate scientists who proverbially \u2018unleashed the dogs\u2019 on Dr.\u00a0S\u00c3\u00a9ralini. Even Monsanto released a comment, stating that the lifelong rat study wasn\u2019t sufficient to substantiate any real health concerns. The company itself, amazingly, only conducted a 90 day trial period for its GMOs before unleashing them on the public.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Previous Peer-Reviewed Evidence Highlighting GMO Danger Ignored by \u2018Scientists\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s important to remember that\u00a0S\u00c3\u00a9ralini\u2019s work may be the most popular within the media, but it\u2019s not the only research linking GMOs and Roundup to serious health effects. Monsanto and fellow goons failed to mention this truth, especially the fact that Monsanto\u2019s Roundup has been associated with over\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenmedinfo.com\/toxic-ingredient\/roundup-herbicide\">29 negative health<\/a>\u00a0conditions according to peer-reviewed studies available on PubMed. And these conditions are nothing minor. Health effects linked to Roundup include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cancer<\/li>\n<li>Parkinson\u2019s<\/li>\n<li>DNA damage<\/li>\n<li>Low testosterone<\/li>\n<li>Liver damage<\/li>\n<li>Infertility<\/li>\n<li>Endocrine disease<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are serious disorders that result from the very Roundup that is used on crops by farmers worldwide before hitting your dinner table. In fact an increased amount of usage is now needed thanks to ineffective GMO crops that are now being eaten by mutated superbugs that have developed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rs\/2012\/07\/08\/rootworms-develop-resistance-to-genetically-engineered-corn\/\">a resistance<\/a>\u00a0to Monsanto\u2019s built-in GMO pesticides.Roundup covered crops that eventually land on dinner tables worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>But perhaps very few scientists around the globe actually dare speak about these dangers due to the overwhelming political influence Monsanto and other biotech companies have over nations around the globe. We know thanks to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/naturalsociety.com\/us-start-trade-wars-with-nations-opposed-to-monsanto-gmo-crops\/\">2007 WikiLeaks cables<\/a>\u00a0that not only are most if not all U.S. ambassadors on Monsanto payroll, but that prominent U.S. political figures have threatened nations who oppose Monsanto with \u2018military-style trade wars\u2019. A threat that has managed to strike fear into many nations who would not risk massive retaliation\u00a0from the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Now, however, the awareness has grown stronger than ever before and consumers worldwide are taking a stand.
