(RT<\/a>) –\u00a0US federal authorities have issued a terror threat warning to local law enforcement officials nationwide for the July 4 holiday, according to an anonymous US official cited by local media.<\/p>\n

No specific or credible threat has yet been indicated, but intel
\ngathered by the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI told
\nlocal law enforcement authorities about threats from Islamic
\nState and other terrorist groups, USA Today reported.<\/p>\n

The warning comes days after three deadly attacks in Tunisia,
\nFrance, and Kuwait, in which scores of civilians were killed.
\nIslamic State (IS, formerly ISIS\/ISIL) has claimed responsibility
\nfor the three attacks.<\/p>\n

What has been dubbed \u201ca day of terror\u201d<\/em> in the media
\nfollowed IS calls for war on infidels. The terrorist group has
\nurged attacks by \u201cMuslims everywhere\u201d during the holy month of
\nRamadan.<\/p>\n

On Friday, commenting on the attacks, Department of Homeland
\nSecurity Secretary, Jeh Johnson said local authorities were
\n“vigilant and prepared”<\/em> ahead of the celebrations on
\nJuly 4.<\/p>\n

“We will also adjust security measures, seen and unseen, as
\nnecessary to protect the American people. We continue to
\nencourage all Americans to attend public events and celebrate
\nthis country during this summer season, but always remain
\nvigilant,”<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n

The secretary also referred to last week’s deadly Charleston
\nchurch shooting, saying that such “acts of mass violence will
\nnever divert, discourage or frighten us.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The latest warning follows foiled attacks on US citizens earlier
\nthis month: a potential assault on police officers in Boston, and
\na failed attempt to attack an FBI agent during a home search of
\nan IS-related suspect.<\/p>\n

Alerts such as the latest one are frequently issued before major
\nnational holidays.
\n<\/p>\n
