It has been a goal of both the Democrats and Republicans. Israel wants Assad removed from power because of its close ties to Hezbollah and Iran. Israel\u2019s former Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren once said <em>\u201cWe always wanted Bashar Assad to go, we always preferred the bad guys who weren\u2019t backed by Iran to the bad guys who were backed by Iran\u201d<\/em> in an interview published by Reuters back in 2013. Remember In 2007 when Former U.S. Army General Wesley Clark told Amy Goodman of <em>Democracy Now<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><em>This is a memo that describes how we\u2019re going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran.\u201d I said, \u201cIs it classified?\u201d He said, \u201cYes, sir.\u201d I said, \u201cWell, don\u2019t show it to me.\u201d And I saw him a year or so ago, and I said, \u201cYou remember that?\u201d He said, \u201cSir, I didn\u2019t show you that memo! I didn\u2019t show it to you!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Washington\u00a0wants Assad removed from power. The Syrian government\u00a0is allied with\u00a0Washington\u2019s adversaries including Hezbollah, Iran and Russia. The Associated Press (AP) reported that <em>\u201cPresident Barack Obama urged Congress on Wednesday to authorize military action against terrorists who are cutting a swath across the Middle East.\u201d<\/em> Obama says that he will not commit U.S. ground forces to a long-term war <em>\u201cI\u2019m convinced that the United States should not get dragged back into another prolonged ground war.\u201d<\/em> It will mark the first war-powers vote in 13 years for congress which will pass with a Republican majority. Warmongers in Washington including Senator John McCain (who idolizes War criminal Henry Kissinger) will surely vote \u201cYes\u201d for any military action in Syria.\u00a0\u00a0According to the AP report\u00a0<em>\u201cSen.
