The BBC praises the Right Sector and its role in the Maidan movement [April 28, 2014]<\/a>. According to the BBC, the Right Sector contributed to the instatement of \u201creal democracy\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Right Sector played a leading role in January\u2019s violent anti-Yanukovych protests in Kiev\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Right Sector is the most radical wing of Ukraine\u2019s Maidan protest movement that toppled President Viktor Yanukovych in February.<\/p>\n

\u2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

They are not Neo-Nazis. That misleading designation is part of a propaganda ploy by Moscow to demonize bona fide Ukraine nationalists.<\/p>\n

\u201cCritics at home say the party\u2019s inflammatory rhetoric and violence\u00a0is helping Russian media to depict Ukraine as overrun with \u201cneo-Nazis\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0who threaten the Russian-speaking population.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It is worth noting that the BBC contradicts its earlier March 7, 2014 BBC Newsnight report entitled, \u201cNeo-Nazi threat in new Ukraine<\/a>,\u201d which says exactly the opposite: \u201cxenophobic Jew-hating nationalists, armed and leading the mobs in Kiev\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to Prince Charles:\u00a0\u201cNow Putin is doing just about the same as Hitler\u201d, which indelibly suggests that Moscow rather than Kiev has embraced a neo-Nazi Agenda.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Look at the photos displayed in the BBC\u2019s report. The BBC suggests that\u00a0these Right Sector thugs are acting responsibly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the BBC, the Right Sector has no Nazi roots, it was formed as an umbrella group in November 2013:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOriginally set up as an alliance of ultra-nationalist groups in November 2013,<\/strong>the Right Sector is now a party and its leader, Dmytro Yarosh, is running for president\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The BBC report fails to mention the names of the constituent members of Pravy Sektor: They areTrident (Tryzub)<\/strong>, led by Dmytro Yarosh and Andriy Tarasenko, and the Ukrainian National Assembly\u2014Ukrainian National Self Defence (UNA\u2014UNSO)<\/strong>, a terrorist paramilitary organization supported covertly by NATO (see image below) and several other right wing paramilitary groups.<\/p>\n

Trident (Tryzub) (\u00d0\u00a2\u00d1\u20ac\u00d0\u00b8\u00d0\u00b7\u00d1\u0192\u00d0\u00b1<\/span>) is an overtly Nazi paramilitary organization founded in 1993 by the\u00a0Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists,<\/strong>\u00a0which was set up by former members of the notorious OUN-B, which collaborated with Nazi Germany during World War II.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Trident (Tryzub) (\u00d0\u00a2\u00d1\u20ac\u00d0\u00b8\u00d0\u00b7\u00d1\u0192\u00d0\u00b1<\/span>) acknowledges the legacy of Stepan Bandera, the World War II Nazi collaborator. Its full name is the \u201cStepan Bandera All-Ukrainian Trident Organization\u00a0[\u00d0\u2019\u00d1\u0081\u00d0\u00b5\u00d1\u0192\u00d0\u00ba\u00d1\u20ac\u00d0\u00b0\u00d1\u2014\u00d0\u00bd\u00d1\u0081\u00d1\u0152\u00d0\u00ba\u00d0\u00b0 \u00d0\u00be\u00d1\u20ac\u00d0\u00b3\u00d0\u00b0\u00d0\u00bd\u00d1\u2013\u00d0\u00b7\u00d0\u00b0\u00d1\u2020\u00d1\u2013\u00d1\u008f \u00e2\u20ac\u00b3\u00d0\u00a2\u00d1\u20ac\u00d0\u00b8\u00d0\u00b7\u00d1\u0192\u00d0\u00b1\u00e2\u20ac\u00b3 \u00d1\u2013\u00d0\u00bc\u00d0\u00b5\u00d0\u00bd\u00d1\u2013 \u00d0\u00a1\u00d1\u201a\u00d0\u00b5\u00d0\u00bf\u00d0\u00b0\u00d0\u00bd\u00d0\u00b0 \u00d0\u2018\u00d0\u00b0\u00d0\u00bd\u00d0\u00b4\u00d0\u00b5\u00d1\u20ac\u00d0\u00b8<\/span>).<\/p>\n

The BBC mentions the name of Stepan Bandera, but fails to acknowledge that he was instrumental in the killings of Jews, Poles pro-Soviet Ukrainians and Russians at the behest of the Third Reich. According to the BBC, his alleged links to Nazi Germany are part of Russian propaganda:<\/p>\n

“Dmytro Yarosh calls himself a follower of\u00a0Stepan Bandera, a nationalist leader who fought Polish and Soviet rule in the 1930s and 1940s but is seen in Russia and eastern Ukraine as a\u00a0<\/strong>\"Tryz.png\"<\/a>Nazi collaborator.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr Yarosh rejects accusations of racism, saying he regards anyone who fights for Ukraine as a comrade. Right Sector leaders have recently assured the Israeli ambassador that\u00a0they reject anti-Semitism\u00a0<\/strong>along with other forms of chauvinism and xenophobia.” [emphasis added]<\/p>\n

Moscow is demonizing Right Sector and Svoboda, according to the BBC.<\/p>\n

In chorus, the Western media is categorical, they are not Neo-Nazis: Right Sector is casually described as a \u201cUkrainian nationalist group\u201d. Various other designations are presented: \u201cumbrella organization of far-right groups\u201d (TIME), \u201cradical right-wing group, \u201ccoalition of militant ultra-nationalists\u201d,\u201dnationalist group\u201d, \u201ccoalition of once-fringe Ukrainian nationalist groups\u201d(NYT), \u201cumbrella group for far-right activists and ultranationalists\u201d (WSJ). The word neo-Nazi is a taboo.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Right Sector has been involved in a hate campaign against Kiev\u2019s Jewish Community, an issue which neither the BBC nor the Israeli media consider newsworthy. There is no history in the BBC\u2019s narrative. There is deliberate distortion and omission, with a view to misleading public opinion.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Stepan Bandera\u2019s links to World War II atrocities are well documented by scholars and historians.\u00a0\u00a0Jews were the target of the Third Reich\u2019s Einsatzgruppen (Task Groups or Deployment Groups) which were supported by Stepan Bandera\u2019s OUN-B.<\/em><\/p>\n

Under the militant leadership of Stepan Bandera in World War II, the ultra-nationalists organized the Ukrainian Waffen SS Galician, Nichtengall, and Roland Divisions that collaborated with the Nazis and were responsible for the genocide of over 500,000 people. Following the war, however, Ukrainian Nazis were the only group to escape trial at Nuremburg for crimes against humanity.<\/p>\n

By ignoring the World War II legacy of Stepan Bandera\u2019s OUN-B and casually describing him as a anti-Soviet Nationalist, the BBC is tacitly involved in what is described \u201cholocaust denial\u201d. While the Western media including the BBC has not covered the issue, the contemporary Neo-Nazi threat against the Jewish community in the Ukraine is real.<\/p>\n

The contemporary Neo-Nazi Svoboda Party as well the Right Sector follow in the footsteps of the OUN-B, which was responsible for acts of genocide directed Jews, Poles, Russian and pro-Soviet Ukrainians.<\/p>\n
