American real estate mogul Donald Trump is the “source of divisiveness” in the Republican Party, says a former candidate for the US House of Representatives.
Costantino Rozzo made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Wednesday, while commenting on the GOP candidate’s momentum during primaries and caucuses in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election in the United States.
Trump’s victory in most of the votes so far is “easy to figure out because Republicans aren’t very complicated,” Rozzo said, calling the GOP’s views “shallow” and “fascist.”
“That’s very appealing for a lot of ultra-right white Americans.”
He also referred to what he described as the “moderate” origins of the party which has now been dismantled by Trump and other GOPers like him.
“The moderate base of the Republican Party has been drowned and overwhelmed by candidates like Trump. He’s been a source of divisiveness,” he said.
