Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has repeated calls for the return of the waterboarding torture technique against terrorism suspects, saying, “I like it a lot.”
“You have to fight fire with fire,” said Trump, after referring to beheadings by the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group, The Hill reported on Friday.
He made the comments at a rally in the state of Ohio.
“What do you think about waterboarding?” Trump asked the crowd. “I like it a lot,” he said. “I don’t think it’s tough enough.”
“They [Daesh] can do chopping off heads, drowning people in steel cages, they can do whatever they want to do,” the real estate tycoon complained.
Waterboarding, which was used by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on terror suspects after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, was banned by the US government in 2006.
