British Prime Minister Theresa May has appealed to the public to support her Brexit deal, calling on Leavers and Remainers to end hostilities and unite.
In a “letter to the nation” on Sunday, May asked British people to use the country’s departure from the European Union to help begin a period of national “renewal and reconciliation.”
She said that the deal and political declaration slated to be agreed by EU leaders in Brussels on Sunday “will honor the result of the referendum” by enabling the UK to “take back control” of its money, laws and borders.
“It is a deal for a brighter future, which enables us to seize the opportunities that lie ahead,” she said in her letter.
The UK can sign new trade agreements with other countries and “open up new markets” around the world, she added.
