Civilians Shot While Fleeing Fallujah; 48 Killed in Iraq
Although the United States has spent $1.6 billion in
U.S. arms and training, the Iraqi army is still
problematic, full of corruption and mismanagement. Nevertheless, combined
security and Coalition forces have taken back considerable territory.
At least 48 were killed and three more were wounded:
In Fallujah, militants gunned
down 30 civilians, mostly women and children who were trying to flee the
city.
Three
people were killed and 11 were wounded by a suicide
blast at a security checkpoint in Baghdad.
A roadside bomb in Albu Musa killed
one militiaman and wounded three more.
Nine
militants were killed during an operation in Saridiya.
Airstrikes near Makhmour killed
eight militants.
Several
militants were killed or wounded in Rabeaa. The leader of ISIS, Abu
Bakr al-Baghdadi was reportedly among them, but this has not been confirmed.
