Christians blast Facebook for refusing to introduce a reaction cross but allowing a rainbow flag to mark LBGTQ month in the US

A reaction cross will not be added to Facebook, despite calls from Christian activists.

Demands that the religious icon be made available on the social network were made by Christians angered by the introduction of a rainbow flag, to mark LBGTQ pride month in the US.

Thousands of users of the site began posting memes requesting the introduction of the Christian cross, but a spokesman for the California company rejected the pleas.

The campaign was started by Facebook user Hikmat Hanna in recent weeks.

He uploaded an image on June 24, highlighting the introduction of the gay pride flag and calling for a similar symbol for Christians.

It has since been shared by tens of thousands of people, but Facebook has said it will not be introduced.

Speaking to HuffPost, a Facebook spokesman said: ‘This reaction is not actually available on Facebook, and is not something we’re working on.’
