The US military chief says four American citizens, including two soldiers, were killed in a giant explosion inside the largest US military base in Afghanistan by an “apparent suicide bomber.”
The Taliban terrorist group claimed responsibility Saturday for the deadly attack inside the heavily fortified Bagram Airfield, located north of the capital Kabul.
Two servicemembers and two contractors were killed at the largest US military base in Afghanistan, US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter confirmed Saturday.
The military chief extended his “sincere condolences” to the families of the soldiers, adding he was “deeply saddened” by the news.
He further warned the attackers that the US “message is simple. We will not be deterred in our mission to protect our homeland and help Afghanistan secure its own future.”
