A UN human rights expert has called on the US to end four decades of solidarity confinement for a black prisoner, Albert Woodfox, convicted of murdering a Louisiana prison guard.
œKeeping Albert Woodfox in solitary confinement for more than four decades clearly amounts to torture and it should be lifted immediately,” said the UN Special Rapporteur on torture, Juan E. Méndez.
