Use of “disproportionate” force against African Americans by US police has led to a “wild wild west” situation in the United States, says a political scientist.
Wilmer Leon, political scientist and SiriusXM satellite radio host, made the comments in a Monday interview with Press TV regarding the acquittal of a white police officer in the 2012 shooting deaths of an unarmed black couple in the US.
An Ohio judge announced on Saturday that the decision to use deadly force by Officer Michael Brelo, 31, was reasonably justifiable in the deaths of 43-year-old Timothy Russell and 30-year-old Malissa Williams in November 2012.
According to Judge John P. O’Donnell, there was no evidence Brelo was solely responsible for the couple’s deaths, as their fatal gunshot wounds came from multiple directions.
