Business Networking on LinkedIn?

by Aimee Sway

If you are a professional businessperson and want to network with others to grow your business, then it is time you took a serious look at LinkedIn.com. LinkedIn is now regarded as the number one online network for the business world and its professionals.

This networking community has every kind of company that can possibly be called a business. Members include:

  • Regular employees
  • CEOs
  • Fast paced entrepreneurs
  • Visionaries

This is the kind of network that can help promote yourself, your business or your company. LinkedIn has almost 100 million users and is growing continually. It is a strong and vibrant business community that can help promote YOU and your product.

The time has never been better to get involved and start promoting yourself. So, how does one go about doing just that?

Join the Network

Sound simple? It is.

The key to getting off to a good start is to:

  1. Make sure that your information is accurate and current. This is the first thing that people will see about you and your endeavors; you want to have information available that will help you connect with like-minded people.
  2. The next step is to begin to connect with people you may already know–other business people, old classmates etc. find old friends that are networking on LinkedIn. And hook up with them.
  3. Learn about other members that may have your same interests and connect with them. It is the connections that make LinkedIn a successful and worthwhile endeavor for those that use it. The more attention you give this, the better your experience will be.
  4. Another way to gain attention and contacts is to link to your blog posts and let LinkedIn members read them. This gives you an even stronger connection with peers and allows them to see what you are doing and what you are about.

Company Pages

From there you can begin to develop a Company Page that can explain your businesses; currently there are about 20,000 companies that are using LinkedIn to promote their products. You can recommend products and have others also recommend your products and/or services.

When a member of LinkedIn recommends a certain product, their recommendation goes to all their connections. This makes any endorsed product much more reliable and is the best way to have people try your products or services, than with a cold sell. And THAT is an outstanding and incredibly simple way to grow more customers and fans.

Q & A

LinkedIn also has a question and answer feature that allows users to get responses to things like a new blog look or webpage. You can also use the Q & A feature to show your own expertise in areas and to gain trust with other members.

These are just a few of the perks and features that go with being a member of LinkedIn. The best thing you can do for your business and your future is to become a member and discover all the perks and features that can help you build your business beyond your wildest expectations.

So, what’s stopping you?
