Four people were wounded when gunfire broke out at an anti-violence vigil sponsored by Mothers of Murdered Offspring in Charlotte, N.C., police said.
The vigil Thursday evening in the city’s Villa Heights neighborhood was organized to call attention to the death last week of Javon Booker, who police say was fatally shot as he allegedly attempted to rob a convenience store.
Police were called to the vigil after a report of a person firing at people but by the time they arrived, most of those attending the event had left.
Police said they later learned the four victims, none of whom had life-threatening injuries, called 911 from different locations, The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer reported Friday. UPI
