Former Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman says the international community must stay out of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.\n<\/p>\n
Lieberman, who is the chairman of Israel™s Knesset foreign affairs and defense committee, said any meddling by the international community will result in moving farther away from peace.\n<\/p>\n
Speaking on Iran™s nuclear energy program, Lieberman echoed the recent anti-Iran rhetoric made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had threatened to take unilateral action against Iran.\n<\/p>\n
œIt™s better to be alone and stay alive rather than toe the line and go up in flames,” Lieberman said.\n<\/p>\n
œWe are ready for such situation. Currently smiles are being supplied and the West is willing to buy these smiles rather than deploying warships,” he added.\n<\/p>\n
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly session on Tuesday, Netanyahu threatened unilateral military action against Iran to dismantle the Islamic Republic™s civilian nuclear facilities.\n<\/p>\n
He repeated his baseless accusation that Tehran is seeking to develop nuclear weapons, saying, œIf Israel is forced to stand alone, Israel will stand alone.”\n<\/p>\n
Netanyahu™s anti-Iran rhetoric came after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani held a landmark telephone conversation with his US counterpart Barack Obama On September 27, mainly focusing on Iran™s nuclear energy program.\n<\/p>\n
It was the first direct communication between an Iranian and a US president since the victory of Iran™s Islamic Revolution more than three decades ago.\n<\/p>\n
The two presidents stressed Tehran and Washington™s political will to swiftly resolve the dispute over Iran™s nuclear energy program, which the United States, Israel and some of their allies claim has non-civilian purposes. Iran has categorically rejected the allegation.\n<\/p>\n
